Braun hand blender information
Braun hand blenders are no longer being manufactured, however most of the spare parts & accesories are still available to purchase - so theres no need to throw your machine away if any parts become lost or damaged.
The downside is the complicated nature of the parts that are available and determining which parts are compatible with which products.
Braun have given each product a TYPE number and a Model number, this can make things very confusing.
The type number of your machine will be stamped into the machine - it can be found on the motor unit at the point where it connects to the attachments. It will say the word 'type' followed by a 4-digit number, starting with 41.
The model number cannot normally be found on the product but can be found on either the box or the instruction manual.
Here is a list of the Braun Type numbers and thier coresponding model numbers:
-
4162 - MR4000, MR4050
-
4164 - MR350, MR395 (Older models)
-
4169 - MR290-390, MR4000 (Older models)
-
4179 - MR390-430 (Older models)
-
4185 - MR400-440
-
4187 - MR500, MR505
-
4189 - MR550, MR555
-
4191 - MR5500, MR5550, MR6500, MR65550
-
4192 - MR5000
-
4193 - MR4000, MR4050
On top of this list of type numbers and model numbers eash has different attachments available.
There are several attachments available for these machines which vary in size depending on the tasks they were designed for.
The attachments are:
- Herb chopper - Known as HC
- Chopping attachment - Known as CA
- Food processor - Known as FP
- Vaccuum fresh system - Known as VP
- Whisking attachment
- Main shaft/Blending arm
- Ice crushing/BC attachment
The HC, CA & BC attachment consist of several components that make up the complete attachment, these are:
- The bowl
- The blade
- The upper part (Gearing/lid)
- Cover/Base
Most of these components are not interchangeable between the different attachments - for example a CA blade will not fit into a HC bowl, or a CA upper part will not fit on a HC bowl.
Also the attachment has to be the correct one for the machines model number - For example a CA attachment designed for the MR4000 will not fit on the MR5000 or MR6000 blender.
There are a few exceptions to these rules - For example the MR5000 & MR6000 series take the same attachments.
The CA & BC attachment take the same upper part.
If you are replacing a part for your hand blender you will need to first compare the type number from the machine with the list above to determine which model number you have.
Then you will need to determine the size of the attachment - for the HC & CA this can be found stamped on the side of the bowl (If no letters can be found on the side of the bowl, it is a very old bowl that has now been updated and is no longer available meaning that the bowl & the blade will need to be replaced)
If your attachment has a handle it is a BC attachment.
An example:
Your type number: 4185
Your bowl size: HC
Would be a herb chopper attachment for the MR400 or MR410 hand blender.
